Tomboy and Femme Ways to Style a Jumpsuit

On hot summer days, I want to wear something that's light and not too complicated to throw on. Body-hugging vintage denim, as much as I love it, is a hard pass in mid July. For the past few summers, my go-to has been a jumpsuit. These closet staples are quite literally a blank canvas. Not only can they be dressed up and down, but you can play with accessories to make them communicate a different style. I got mine at Urban Outfitters; I've thrifted a few but ultimately I wanted one that fit me perfectly so I decided to buy one from the store. When picking one out, ask yourself what details you're drawn to so that you know you'll wear it. For me I love that it has short sleeves, a snap button down to the waist and that it's a thicker cotton fabric so it'll be more durable. All of that makes this something I'll be wearing again and again until the hot weather goes away.

Now for my queers, to make the first look more feminine, I added a silk headscarf (from British fashion blogger Sammi Jefcoate), white chunky heels and a gold statement choker. I wanted it to be feminine but with a bit of a rocker vibe. This would look sick with a lavender or navy lipstick. I also picked out a pair of tortoiseshell sunnies that add to to the rocker chic look.

On the other hand, for the tomboy version I wanted to give off more laid back, surfer girl vibe. I paired it with a sports bra to minimize my chest, Calvin Klein slides for a casual look and a taupe snap back from California brand Katin (they're known for durable yet stylish outdoor apparel) to top it off.

Over all it was super fun to play around with making a simple piece work for both a more feminine and a masculine look. Summer isn't necessarily my favorite fashion season but the scorching weather is no excuse to not look and feel your best. Starting with a simple piece and getting creative with your accessories can help elevate a look to and help make you feel more comfortable in the way you want to present yourself that day. Thanks for reading and let me know what you're interested in seeing next week in the comments!

Kisses xx
