casual masculine outfit tips

hey honeys

this one is for the tomboys, the theys or for anyone in general whos feeling like femininity isn't really working for them these days. I wanted to give some tips for how to style a casual masculine outfit for anyone who is looking for a place to start.

disclaimer! there's no right or wrong way to dress, these are just some common things I noticed about the way I dress when I want to come across as less femme.

TIPS:

1. wear a high cut collar. If the collar on your top is low, it draws attention more to your chest. Shoot for any necklines that hit around your clavicle.

2. find yourself the perfect tomboy jeans. I'd suggest you pick something that has a mid rise and a straight leg cut. The mid rise will draw the eye away from your waist, and the straight leg will help the pants to fit looser. The combined effect will eliinate the curve from your waist to your ankle by drawing a more up and down line instead of an 's' line.

3. comfy sneakers! comfort starts in your feet. if you want to be able to walk around but don't want to sacrifice height, you can always go for a platform sneaker. (vans and converse both make great ones!)

hope this was helpful!! let me know what you think and if you have any pro tips of your own! xx

styling a mini skirt: going out

hey loves

Here's part two of my post on styling a leather mini skirt. I wanted to show an option for going out (or in my case taking pictures alone on top of a parking garage). Reminder to be safe this Halloween if you're planning on partying and to make a masc a part of your costume. 😉

I switched out my shirt for a black crop top and a cropped denim jacket in order to become the gay witch of my dreams. You can't see in the pics, but the shirt is long sleeved so despite being ultra short it still balances out the form of the outfit.

I'm making a video with more details on how I styled these looks so stay posted!

Styling a mini skirt for fall

hey loves

chased after the sunset to get these dreamy pics. Been wanting to style this faux leather moto skirt for so long (I got it in the summer when it was too uncomfortable to wear leather haha) and now that it's fall I can finally break it out. Ended up making this a more casual look by pairing the skirt with a grey t shirt with a subtle tarot graphic design and a hat to hide my messy hair.

The other thing I wanted to mention in this post is investment pieces. For me that doesn't mean buying designer or anything, but rather investing in materials that won't fall apart after wearing them a few times. I haven't always been able to do this so I was exited that I could finally get my hands on a pair of Sheertex. They're these "unbreakable" tights made in Montreal that are saving my ass right now. No more torn stockings while pulling them on or rips at the worst moment in the day. When you can afford to drop some extra cash on things you need to wear everyday it can really be a fashion lifesaver. But no biggie if ripped, grunge leggings are your thing ;)

I've def been leaving more towards femme style lately so I want to make sure next week I get some more androgynous options out there. One of my nonbinary friends asked me today if I had styling tips for hiding curves so stay tuned for more content that fits the other side of the queer spectrum!

thanks for reading xo

Dark femme fall look

hey loves

For the last look I shot this week I wanted to do something more feminine and witchy. I threw a chunky pattered sweater over a turtleneck and added a headscarf, sunnies and a backpack for to serve dark academia looks, just in time for all the zoom classes that I'm not enrolled in. Just because we can't go to the library this fall shouldn't stop us from serving up dark academia looks that the local coffee shop girls and gays would die for.

fall fashion: leather and houndstooth

hey loves

So here I have another look from this weeks shoot that stays on the same theme of mixing patterns to create a visually interesting outfit. I noticed that leather is trending this fall, so I paired my turtleneck with faux leather pants and a vintage leather fisherman's hat. For a look that's a bit more on trend I'd suggest going with a looser fitting, structured pant instead of ones that lean more towards leggings.

I love to layer several jackets during colder weather. To be honest, I probably own more jackets than shirts. The cropped houndstooth jacket easily fits underneath the oversize aviator and creates contrast by adding a pop of color with this classic pattern. Not to mention layering like this is perfect for cold, rainy days on the West Coast.

Let me know in the comments what you think and how you'll be layering for fall xx

fall looks: masculin/feminin

 hey loves

In this look I wanted to play around with mixing sleeker fashion with athletic apparel in order to communicate an oscillation between masculine and feminine styles. In this, I feel like a baddie from LA after her Pilates class who's the CEO of her own company and eats confidence for breakfast. Nothing makes me feel powerful quite like a button up with a thick silver chain tucked under the collar. Also, how you pose and hold yourself ultimately says a lot more about who you are than the clothes you're in, so if you're looking for a confidence boost, look for styles that make you feel like your own boss and don't let go. For my more masc-leaning girls and theys, I really recommend button down shirts because they help give you more structured silhouette. For colder days, I'd layer this with a long bomber jacket or a wool pea coat depending on if I wanted to be more sporty or professional.

Let me know what you think and if you'll be rocking menswear inspired looks this fall!
