Chelsea Grunge

hey loves

This look was definitely inspired by one of my favorite fashion bloggers- Sammi Jefcoate- who I find combines elegance and edgy style in perfectly balanced way. I'm wearing the cult status headscarf from her third collection along with an entirely secondhand ensemble. Headscarves are a fun way for me to dress up short hair and to make an outfit stand out with a classic-inspired detail.

I always want to put together new outfits to feel fresh but I try to do so in a way that relies less heavily on buying directly from fast fashion. It does takes more time to thrift entire outfits but I find there's a lot of satisfaction that comes with curating your entire wardrobe piece by piece. One tip to make shopping secondhand less daunting is to have a goal of what your'e searching for. Consider whether the piece you are looking for will match with things you already own or if it aligns with the aesthetic you're trying to emulate. If you can visualize the item you find going with your closet, then its worth the investment!

Let me know what you think and I hope you all have a beautiful week

East Village OOTD

This was from the other day exploring the East Village and NoHo. I'm wearing a basic cotton tee, houndstooth leggings and the confidence to walk around in a crop top after all-you-can-eat sushi.

I'm at a point in my life where I'm living out of a suitcase so naturally I'm re-wearing my outfits, especially my accessories. I think when it comes to accessories its important to either invest in pieces you really love or search for things that match with the rest of your style. (I'm always wearing the same watch, hat and shoes.) With fast fashion being so prevalent in our society its easy to want to change all of your clothes every season but I've been trying recently to just be creative with what I have instead of needlessly spending on new things. Whether you lean more towards maximalist  or minimalist style, what favorite items in your closet do you keep gravitating towards? Let me know in the comments!

Maxi skirt OOTD

hey babies

Went for a more witch-y look today and wore a maxi skirt with a crop top (never not in a crop top even in the dead of winter) and paired it with a hat and platforms. These are my style essentials especially since cutting my hair. Is there anything you guys reach for on the daily that just pulls an outfit together?

When I wear something patterned I try to match the colors in the pattern to the rest of what I'm wearing. So here the dots on the skirt are an ecru/oatmeal color so the top I'm wearing is off white as well. Kind of a no-brainer but somehow took me 23 years to figure out so truly, you are welcome.

I'm looking forward to the day when we all don’t have to wear masks in public so I can flex my violet lipstick. I'm also looking forward to living in a country where state mandated violence towards its citizens isn't tolerated and legally protected by probable cause. But until that day, I'm just gonna keep going braless and fantasize about not having mask related pimples.

thanks for reading! xo

NYC OOTD

 hey babes

Holy shit how is it September already?! Fall is my favorite season since I'm from a place that basically has gloomy weather year round (Washington check!) I feel like its easiest for me to express my style in the fall because I'm not trying to wear as little as possible in order to stay cool and you can be more creative with layering.

I'm been nonstop wearing these vintage Levis that I found in the East Village. I've always loved grunge fashion but it's definitely a fine line between looking edgy and ragged depending on how you style your outfit. For me the trick to make distressed denim look sleek is by creating contrast with the rest of your clothes. Layering a structured top with a unique texture, color or pattern can help make an outfit look more interesting and create a straight line in the silhouette. The combined effect of a long top layered over a straight leg jean is that the curves of your body are toned down and the outfit come across as more androgynous.

As per usual I'm also wearing my favorite platform boots. Can’t wait for permanent cooler weather so these can be my daily staple.

What do you all like to pair distressed denim with? Let me know! Hope you all have a beautiful day and thanks for reading!
