hey loves
This week I wanted to focus on how to use staple pieces like turtlenecks to create various fall looks. I think the secret to fall dressing is mastering layering - something I'm still figuring out! Start with a tight base layer and then layer with different colors or textures. Since my turtleneck in this post is black, I used a bright corset to create contrast. Then I balanced out the silhouette with flowy, wide-leg pants. I had fun mixing and matching fabrics (linen, leather, velvet and cotton) to add some more visual details. Finishing any and every look with an oversize coat. If you want a more androgynous look, a big old jacket creates a straight vertical line which will distract the eye from any curves.
This outfit was completely thrifted which makes my inner environmentalist happy. As much as I love shopping, there's already so much clothing that exists in the world and I try as much as possible to buy secondhand. But the whole sustainability movement is so much more complicated than "if you thrift it's good and if you buy fast fashion it's bad". However, I believe that keeping the conversation open is a step in the right direction to making fashion more ethical for humans and the environment. For me, trying to focus on thrifting is what works for me and sparks joy. What are your guy's go-to's for when you need a wardrobe refresh?
Thanks so much for reading and I hope you all have a lovely week xx
